The first place we came too after leaving Porto was a beautiful little town called Amarante. There’s a church in this little town that has a statue of the Virgin Mary that holds some sort of old wives tale where it’s said, if you rub the foot of the statue you’ll get married within a year. Laura and I were both leary of it but ultimately she gave in and gave the toe a little rub. I steadfastly refused to touch the darn thing.
